Isolda Baskova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, leading researcher of the Department of Human and Animal Physiology, Faculty of Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, author of more than 150 scientific papers, regional editor of the international journal “Thrombosis research”. 1979-1983 and 1988-1992. Since 1961 has been working in the field of blood coagulation physiology and biochemistry. Since 1975 he has been studying biologically active compounds produced by medical leeches (Hirudo Medicinalis) and the mechanisms of their action, which represent the scientific basis of hirudotherapy. Baskova I.P. is the author of leech, the first medical leech medicine, president of the Association of Hirudologists of Russia and CIS countries.

Isakhanyan Georgy Sarkisovich, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Diseases of Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi. He has published more than 70 scientific works devoted to current issues of cardiology – coronary heart disease, myocarditis, as well as hirudotherapy. He is a member of the author’s team of a textbook on internal diseases, author of a textbook on propaedeutics of internal diseases and a monograph on hirudotherapy. In 1995, he was elected a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
